Work on the state’s $25.5 million Puʻunēnē Avenue road widening project is around 40% complete. The projected timeline for the entire project to widen the roadway from two to four lanes is either late third quarter or early fourth quarter of 2026. The completion date extends more time for utility work. In the next couple of weeks, work shifts to the area between Wākea Avenue and East/West Kauaʻi streets where crews will be upgrading driveways along the roadway. The project is aimed at increasing the roadway’s capacity to handle traffic congestion.
